Financial Aid
|
Nearly 90 % of all students who enter St. Elizabeth rely on some financial aid to help pay for their costs of attending. In order for a student to be considered for federal aid, the student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available at high school guidance offices, the financial aid office, or via the Internet at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. If applying online at the FAFSA on the Web site, you need to first request a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents of dependent students will also need to request a PIN before completing the online FAFSA form.
STE Federal code: 006257

For Indiana residents to be considered for Indiana State Grants in addition to Federal Aid, the student must assure that the FAFSA is received at the processor no later than March 10 preceding the year for which the student is applying for aid--to meet the receipt date of March 10, we encourage students to apply no later than March 1.
FAFSA checks for the following aid:
- Federal Pell Grant
need-based, no repayment
- Federal SEOG
supplemental need-based grant, no repayment
- Stafford Loan
repayment begins 6 months following the date the student ceases to be enrolled half-time – if the loan is unsubsidized, the student has the option of paying the interest while they are enrolled
- Parent PLUS Loan
available to the parents of dependent students, begins repayment when loan is fully disbursed, annual limit = cost of attendance less aid received.
- For Indiana Residents whose FAFSA forms are received at the processor by March 10 and who attend an eligible Indiana post-secondary institution:
- Indiana Higher Education Grant – need-based, no repayment
- Indiana Freedom of Choice Grant – need-based, no repayment, for Indiana residents attending private institutions located in the state
Other aid that may be available includes:
- private scholarship funds
- institutional scholarships
- institutional loans
- employer tuition assistance programs
- Vocational Rehabilition benefits
- Job Training Partnership funds
In addition to aid mentioned here, all new admission applicants are automatically considered by the Recruitment and Admissions Committee for the STE Academic Scholarship and all new transfer students are considered for the STE Transfer Scholarship. Criteria for those awards are as follows:
STE Academic Scholarships
Applicants must meet at least 2 of the following criteria to be considered--SAT scores of 1100 (math and verbal scores) or ACT scores of 25, rank in upper 10% of high school graduating class, and have a cumulative graduate index of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. These scholarships are renewable as long as the student maintains a STE cumulative gpa index of at least 3.5. Interviews for accepted applicants who qualify for this scholarship will usually occur in early summer preceding the semester the student intends to enroll.
Transfer Scholarships
Students transferring to St. Elizabeth from another post-secondary institution must meet the following criteria to be considered: maintained a cumulative grade index at the previous institution of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have completed at least 30 hours of credit at the previous institution. The scholarship may be renewable in subsequent years provided the student remains full-time and maintains at least a 3.5 cumulative gpa as a St. Elizabeth student.
Nursing Incentive Scholarship/Loan Program
St. Elizabeth Regional Health offers scholarship loans to students enrolled in a nursing program. To learn more about the scholarship loans offered by St. Elizabeth Regional Health, please contact the School of Nursing at 765-423-6400.
In addition, students should conduct extensive scholarship searches beginning in their junior year of high school to help pay for educational expenses. Early and thorough searches are critical as scholarship deadlines vary and lack of early searches may eliminate the student from consideration for awards for which they might have qualification. |
