The School of Nursing operates on a rolling admissions basis as clinical spaces are filled. Once clinical spots are full for a term we will offer applicants admission to the next available term.
We will accept an Applicant with a GED (General Educational Development) or High School Equivalency test (HiSET) as proof of high school equivalency. Call our Admissions Office at 765-423-6285 for standard score details. As part of the application process you must submit one (1) official copy of your GED/HiSET scores and one (1) official copy of your transcripts from any high school you did attend even though you may not have graduated from that school.
Yes, they will transfer if it is an applicable course and you earned a passing grade per established policy. Some examples of college level courses that more than likely would be considered for transfer are: Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a lab, Microbiology with a lab and Statistics.
Students who have already earned a baccalaureate or higher degree in another discipline are allowed to complete all program requirements at a pace conducive to their needs (based on review of their transcripts as per the existing transfer of credit policy at STESON and similar process at USF).
No. The nursing faculty of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing have selected clinical sites that best provide good learning opportunities for students based on the various objectives of the course in which you are enrolled. Such sites include hospitals and extended care agencies in Lafayette, Indianapolis, Crawfordsville, Rensselaer, Monticello, Logansport, as well as community agencies and schools in the Greater Lafayette area. Each semester varies depending on the clinical sites which are utilized for clinical nursing.
Students are responsible for all of their own transportation at their own cost. This includes any travel to and from your home or campus for classes and clinical agencies. So, yes, students will need to have access to a car since there is no reliable public transportation to transport students from home or campus to class or clinical. In some cases, students arrange carpooling with each other.
The vaccine and health related requirements for our program are based upon our clinical agency’s requirements. A list of the vaccines and other requirements is attached. Currently, Franciscan Alliance does not require Covid vaccinations or exemptions, but the flu shot is required. Some of our clinical agencies require Covid vaccination or an approved religious or medical exemption. Seeking an exemption would be with the individual clinical agency not the School of Nursing. If the clinical agency declines the request, progression in the program is limited. Fortunately, we have been able to maneuver clinical groups to avoid this situation, but it is not guaranteed. Our Student Health Officer is happy to talk with any student about the health requirements in more detail. The Student Health Officer contact information is on the Student Health Checklist at the link below.
